Die Einstellung zu verschiedenen Wissenschaftsdisziplinen durfte sehr unterschiedlich sein orientiert man sich an Gesprachen oder Medienberichten. Anknupfend an bereits durchgefuhrte Arbeiten zum Thema widmet sich die vorliegende Arbeit der Imageproblematik von Wissenschaften unter Bezugnahme auf Modelle der Einstellungsforschung und auf einschlagige empirische Arbeiten. Neben der Betrachtung unterschiedlicher Wissenschaftsdisziplinen wird besonderes Augenmerk auf die Einstellung, die der Psychologie als Wissenschaft entgegen gebracht wird, gelegt. Im Rahmen einer Fragebogenuntersuchung werden acht verschiedene Natur-, Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften (Genetik, Mathematik, Physik, Philosophie, Soziologie, Rechtswissenschaften, Neurowissenschaften und Psychologie) von 281 Personen zwischen 17 und 82 Jahren mittels eines speziellen Polaritatenprofils beurteilt, um den konnotativen, semantischen Beurteilungsraum von Wissenschaften darzustellen. Anhand unterschiedlicher Begriffe wie vertrauenswurdig, nutzlich, glaubwurdig, etc. wird versucht, ein der jeweiligen Disziplin typisches Profil zu erstellen. Dabei wird besonders auf Geschlechts-, Ausbildungs- und Altersunterschiede geachtet. Zusatzlich werden die Versuchspersonen gebeten, anhand einer Temperaturskala ihre Sympathie zu den einzelnen Wissenschaften anzugeben. Diese Information zeigt, dass Sympathie zu einer Wissenschaft und der Glaube an die Disziplin oft weit auseinander liegen. Diese Arbeit hat es sich zum Ziel gemacht, ausgehend von der Erklarung des Begriffs der Personalentwicklung unterschiedliche Personalentwicklungsmassnahmen naher zu beleuchten und deren Erfolgswirksamkeit zu messen. Die wesentlichste, dabei zu beantwortende Frage ist, ob es Personalentwicklungsmassnahmen gibt, die immer -und damit auch uber Grenzen hinweg- wirksam und dem Unternehmen erfolgbringend sind. Um diese Frage beantworten zu konnen, wurden die Daten des Cranfield-Projekts - eine internationale Studie zum Thema Personalwesen - herangezogen und die darin enthaltenen Personalentwicklungsmassnahmen in Bezug zu den unterschiedlichsten Erfolgskriterien gesetzt. Die Berechnungen wurden einerseits fur Unternehmen des osterreichischen Markts sowie andererseits fur Unternehmen Deutschlands durchgefuhrt - letztlich wurden die beiden Lander und die Ergebnisse, die die einzelnen Untersuchungen brachten, zueinander in Beziehung gesetzt um anhand statistischer Verfahren Zusammenhange feststellen zu konnen.
